Dååth’s Sean Z’s Vocal Warmup ‘Ritual’ Involves Stretching and Plenty of Fluids

Though it may not sound like it to your grandma, you and I both know that the screaming that goes on in modern death metal is an incredibly impressive thing to witness. Sure, anyone can yell — but to commit your voice to the type of guttural lows, desiccated fry screams, and shrieking highs needed to be considered a professional takes time and practice. Fuck up screaming and you can permanently damage your vocal cords.

So it was with all that in mind that we knew we had to reach out to Dååth‘s Sean Zatorsky to find out how he gets his voice ready for a recording session or a stint up on stage. What we found out, and what you’ll learn if you hit play on the video below, is that it’s important to stay limber and hydrated at the same time, among other helpful tips.

We’d like to thank Sean Z for taking the time to show us exactly how important a Green Lantern glass is to the entire vocal warmup process. That’s the kind of crucial, inside baseball shit that you can only get from such a killer artist. You can hear the fruits of Sean’s labors on Dååth’s latest album The Deceivers now wherever you get your music these days.
