Liz Phair Shares Video for New Song “Hey Lou”: Watch

Liz Phair has released her first new song in two years. “Hey Lou” is an homage to Lou Reed and Laurie Anderson, and its accompanying music video stars puppet versions of the iconic artists. The single makes reference to Anderson’s classic track “O Superman,” Andy Warhol, and more. Check it out below.

“Hey Lou” is the latest single from Phair’s next studio album Soberish. The song was produced by her longtime collaborator Brad Wood. Of the song, Phair said in a press release: “Have you ever wondered what love looks like for your favorite celebrity couple behind closed doors? Hey Lou imagines a day in the life of two music legends, whose union was an inspiration for rock bands and a source of curiosity for die hard romantics.”

Phair shared her last single“Good Side” in October 2019, coinciding with the release of her memoir “Horror Stories.” She released Girly-Sound to Guyville: The 25th Anniversary Box Set in 2018; her last LP of original music was 2010’s Funstyle. Upon the announcement of Soberish, fair said that the record was “tentatively” coming out last summer. The album has yet to materialize.
