How did you come up with the inspo for this song?
I’ve been a big fan of Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin. They had a beautiful way of storytelling through their many collaborations. I knew I wanted this album to feel like you are entering a story and the music feel more like a soundtrack. Being in my childhood room while locked down reminded me of the countless hours of daydreaming, playing make believe, and my obsession with Peter Pan. All these things made their way into Fading Memories!
Was it a hard writing session?
This one flowed nicely, the lyrics came easily, and it was the first song off my album that I finished. It helped anchor the entire album and the themes that are explored in Yours Always.
Who is the person you want to hear it most?
It’s so odd but with Fading Memories I just wanted anyone who could to listen to it. This song is my lullaby for everyone, we have all been through so much this past year, and I just wanted to extend my heart to everyone.
Anyone in particular that this song touched an emotional chord with?
I’ve had people reach out who found my song, or someone shared it with them to tell me that they love this song and have been on repeat. I feel what I do is quite different from my contemporaries and to hear people relate to it and understand it is incredible. All I want to do is to inspire people to keep dreaming and never lose hope in themselves.
Anything special for you that is coming up?
I have my album coming out along with a music video! I’m so excited to have these out soon. My team and I have been having so much fun creating content for Fading Memories. I was in ballet and my old torn ballet shoes are a part of the music video, which is so special to me. I would buy new shoes but for competitions I would always go back to my old shoes, back then they felt like they were an extension of me.
