Louis York Announces Sophomore Album, Shares New Song ‘Headphones’

It seemed like only yesterday that Louis York, the duo composed of Claude Kelly and Chuck Harmony, released their debut album American Griots, which was among Rated R&B’s Best R&B Albums of 2019 list

The frontiersman of the self-termed New American Soul sound will embark on new land soon with their sophomore album, Healing Feeling. The lead single, “Headphones,” exudes the premise of the album title, reminding us about the restorative power of music, especially during times when we need to escape the most.

Kelly beautifully sings, “How much can I take / I’m going insane / Headphone, Marvin Gaye / Let it play / Let it still play / Ain’t it crazy how someone can move you / Without even using their hands / And pull you through the madness, better than even your mother can.”

Louis York supported the unveiling of their new single with an accompanying music video directed by Aaron Greene. Watch it below.

Since releasing American Griots, Louis York has kept themselves in the studio, specifically working on The Shindellas’ upcoming debut album, Hits That Stick Like Grits. In February, the duo shared the track “The Theme From Black Bottoms.” A month later, they dropped a performance video for “Velvet” off their 2019 album.
