Exclusive Interview with Ian Bouras

When did you first know you wanted to become a musical artist? What was the first song you ever wrote?

I don’t remember the first song I ever wrote, I’ve always been a writer, so That was thousands of songs ago.

Who are some of your top 5 musical influences?

SRV, Bill Frisell, Paco de Lucia, those are my big 3, and I’m influenced by many others.

What’s in your IPOD this week?

Fortunate Youth (reggae), and Twelve Foot Ninja (metal), are both in rotation recently.

How’s the music scene in your locale?

The scene in NYC is strong, but recently, with the pandemic, it’s been tampered down a lot.

What do you like most about playing live?

My favorite thing about playing live is sharing my music with new listeners.

Is there a song on your latest CD release here that stands out as your personal favorite, and why?

My recent release is a single called, The Accidental Artist, so that wins by default.

What’s the best concert you’ve been to?

Bad Brains is one of the best live acts I’ve seen, the energy was incredible.

If you could meet, play a gig, co-write a song, have dinner, have a drink with any band or artist (dead or alive) who would it be?

I would love to get together with Bill Frisell.

What are your goals for the future?

For the future I plan on writing, recording, and releasing new music. With the pandemic, it’s hard to plan any touring.
