The final trailer for the new Scream has been released before the film hits theaters Friday (Jan. 14). From the trailer, the latest Scream seems to be as action-packed as the previous four movies. Oh yeah, and Ghostface has a flamethrower now.

The original Scream team — Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), Dewey Riley (David Arquette) and Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox) — are all back to help the newest generation in the town of Woodsboro survive Ghostface. The latest generation of potential Ghostface victims includes Wallows vocalist Dylan Minnette, among others.

This is the first Scream movie in the 25-year-old franchise the late Wes Craven hasn’t directed. Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (Ready Or Not) are now in the driver’s seat.
Bettinelli-Olpin spoke to Polygon about the influence Craven has had on the new Scream and his career as a whole.
“We all grew up on [Craven’s] movies. So they’re just kind of in our DNA in a way that a very few directors are,” he says. “We can name our top five directors, and he’s one of them. [Craven’s style] is just kind of built into the way that we approach things from jump before we ever thought we’d be involved in Scream.
“I think one of the things that is so embedded in all of Wes Craven’s work, that kind of allowed us to do our own thing, and kind of hopefully push the franchise forward, is that his movies always take risks,” Bettinelli-Olpin continues. “So I think we would have been disappointed in ourselves and feel like we let down Wes if we made a movie that was 100% homage and just about the past.”
