Gemaine and Charlie Heat Release New Track ‘Conditional Love’

Gemaine and Charlie Heat have shared the third single from forthcoming joint project, New Jack City, out April 15.

On “Conditional Love,” Gemaine turns a fervent Island-influenced production into a mini-epic based on temporary affection contingent on what one does for the other.

Unlike any of the songs released so far from New Jack City, Gemaine revealed the reason for the contrast sonically in an interview with Rated R&B.

“It was one of the last songs made. I intentionally wanted to have a song that I knew was more for the people. I also had a message that I wanted to say with it,” he shared.

He added, “The way of love is conditional love. Love isn’t real, at least in our age. Everyone only loves you under a certain condition. It’s always a list of something you must do even to have a chance with them. I don’t think that’s love to me. Writing a song about that has been on my heart, and I’m glad it was on a dance beat (laughs).”

Gemaine and Heat released a music video to go with the new track. Watch it below.

Gemaine made his first appearance with Heat on the title track of the producer’s Valentine’s Son project.

They began a new chapter towards New Jack City earlier this year with “No Questions,” a groove that embraces devotion and companionship. The sensual “Lay It Down” followed it.
