Rising singer Brandon is back with his first single since last July. The self-produced track is titled “Cherie.”
Brandon is unraveling at the seams on the guitar-lined song now that his partner has left his side. “I miss her / I just want to kiss her / Girl, you know I only want your body laying by my side / Every night,” he sings.
As noted above, Brandon has not released a new song since “Savior Complex,” which arrived a year ago. If you remember correctly, the song was a remake of Phoebe Bridgers’ fan favorite taken from her 2020 album Punisher. Brandon would share the cover with an official music video directed by Justin Segura.
The previous year, Brandon issued his debut EP Coming Clean. The seven-track effort includes the focus track “Baby,” as well as highlights such as the regretful “Makeup” and the closing track “Her.” Brandon unveiled an accompanying visual for the last cut.
“All I can say is that I hope my listeners feel what I feel when I sing these songs,” Brandon told Rated R&B of the reaction he wanted fans to experience when playing Coming Clean.
On Aug. 5, Brandon will appear on Daniel Price’s forthcoming project Peaking. Their collaboration, “Blue Eyed Angel,” is available now on streaming platforms.
Brandon will also perform at the This Ain’t No Picnic Festival next month. The two-day affair takes place Aug. 27 through Aug. 28 at Brookside at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. Other R&B-centric performers include Kaytranada, Dawn Richard, Tinashe, Jorja Smith, Queen Naija, Tems, among others.
