It’s not very often that an artist or band gets to take a second stab at a project, but that’s exactly what New York psychedelic fuzz rock duo White Hills got to do with their upcoming release The Revenge of Heads on Fire.
Set to release tomorrow through their newly launched record label Heads on Fire Industries, The Revenge of Heads on Fire is a roughly 75 minute journey into different sonic spaces ranging from the trippy and ethereal to massive fuzzy rock walls of sound.
Guitarist and vocalist Dave W. said the album’s inspiration came to him in a dream in which “a screaming head on fire penetrated my chest, jolting me from the universal plane back to earth.” Those vivid visions, he said, drove him to want to perfect upon the band’s 2007 release Heads on Fire.
Possibly the most striking moment in the album comes in the 21-minute long “Don’t Be Afraid,” where Dave W. and his counterpart, Ego Sensation, guide you though an avant-garde epic that feels like it’s constantly pushing you further down the rabbit hole.
