The Weeknd, Metro Boomin’s ‘Creepin” Hits No. 1 at Urban Radio

Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye is back at the top of the urban radio chart for the first time in eight years. “Creepin’,” his collaboration with Metro Boomin and 21 Savage has reached No. 1.

The Weeknd previously hit No. 1 with his 2015 hit “Earned It (Fifty Shades of Grey).” The Grammy-winning song appeared on Fifty Shades of Grey (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) and The Weeknd’s Beauty Behind the Madness album.

“Creepin’” is the lead single from Metro Boomin’s most recent album, Heroes & Villains, released in December 2022.

The heartwrenching track, which is a reimagined version of Mario Winans’ 2004 song “I Don’t Wanna Know,” debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It reached its peak at No. 3 in the week of Feb. 11. It currently is No. 7 at the time of publication.

Additionally, “Creepin’” made its debut at No. 1 on the following Billboard charts: Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, Hot R&B Songs, R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs and R&B Streaming Songs.

In March, Metro Boomin enlisted Sean “Diddy” Combs for the official “Creepin’ (Remix).” Diddy, The Weeknd, 21 Savage and Metro Boomin performed the updated version at Coachella in April.

The Weeknd gave a sneak peek of “Double Fantasy” featuring Future during Coachella, which will be included in The Weeknd’s upcoming HBO series, The Idol.

The Weeknd stars in the show alongside Lily-Rose Depp, Troye Sivan, and Dan Levy. The series premieres June 4. The soundtrack is expected to release around the same time as the series premiere.

According to the logline, “After a nervous breakdown derailed Jocelyn’s (Lily-Rose Depp) last tour, she’s determined to claim her rightful status as the greatest and sexiest pop star in America. Her passions are reignited by Tedros (Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye), a nightclub impresario with a sordid past. Will her romantic awakening take her to glorious new heights or the deepest and darkest depths of her soul?”

Two days after The Idol premieres, The Weeknd will launch the second leg of his After Hours Til Dawn Tour in Europe and Latin America. The upcoming tour will support The Weeknd’s most recent albums, After Hours and Dawn FM. The latter album was first released in January 2022 and later expanded into Dawn FM (Alternate World).

Kaytranada and Mike Dean will support The Weeknd as special guests on tour.
