After two decades since its monumental release, BBE Music celebrates J Dilla’s classic debut album Welcome 2 Detroit with its 20th anniversary edition.
Also coinciding with his 47th birthday (Feb. 7), the expanded reissue LP features added instrumentals, new covers, unreleased mixes, as well as studio outtakes, a book and a 7″ vinyl set featuring 12 tracks.
As a member of Slum Village, Jay Dee released his original debut album on February 26, 2001 and introduced his J Dilla alias. Born James Dewitt Yancey, J Dilla died on February 10, 2006 in Los Angeles, CA. at the age of 32. R.I.P. Jay Dee.
