‘Slow Burn’ comes from that sense of quiet intensity that comes with a new connection with someone. While it’s somehow yet uncertain, and fragile, it’s at the same time quite undeniably real. The song was inspired by a personal situationship, which moved slowly, edging somewhere between comfort and commitment.
The track started out as a confessional verse that evoked Julia Michaels in its rawness, before, over the course of a few focused sessions, becoming more intimate and expansive. ‘Slow Burn’ was produced by Berlin-based Johannes Lemken, who has also produced TRYHARD’s debut EP, ‘Sequel’.
‘Slow Burn’ opens with an electronic rhythm, before allowing space for TRYHARD’s vocals, as well as guitars and other electronic instrumentation. Just like the slow burn of the relationship in the song, the music ebbs and flows, building up gently, yet unmistakably moving forward.
‘Slow Burn’ sees TRYHARD return to music after stepping away to pursue a law degree. He was admitted as a lawyer in 2024, and yet the pull of pop music remained strong, and, as TRYHARD, he is able to satiate the hunger he felt.
