Camp Cope is breaking up. The Australian band posted a farewell message to Instagram, signing off “CAMP COPE 2015-2023.” They also noted that the last show they will play in their hometown of Melbourne, Victoria, would be during the Brunswick Music Festival on March 11 with BARKAA. A representative confirmed the breakup to Pitchfork. “The music industry is a bin fire,” the band’s drummer Sarah Thompson wrote in her own tweet, promising “more to come.” Check out the posts here and here and the full statements below.
Camp Cope released their last album Running With the Hurricane in March; they performed at Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago in July, absent bassist Kelly-Dawn Hellmrich, who sat out the tour on doctor’s orders due to her pregnancy. Singer Georgia Maq shared her debut solo album Pleaser in 2019, and dropped the loose single “Joe Rogan” in late 2021.
