John Legend spent time at Vevo Studios in Los Angeles, California, to promote his latest album, LEGEND.
Stationed behind a piano, wearing a burnt orange polyester shirt, the EGOT winner delivered a stunning performance of “Wonder Woman.”
Legend’s recent visit to Vevo Studios comes on the heels of releasing LEGEND (Solo Piano Version), a piano-based version of songs from last year’s LEGEND.
The 12-song album also featured covers of songs by Sade and Simon & Garfunkel.
“After releasing LEGEND last fall, a few of the songs kept coming back to me, wanting to take on a new form,” Legend shared.
“I’m excited to share LEGEND (Solo Piano Version) with you today – just me and my piano. I hope these renditions can serve as a reminder that we’re all ever-evolving.”
Legend made his Republic Records debut in September 2022 with LEGEND. The double album, divided into two sides, had many guest appearances, from Ledisi and Jazmine Sullivan to JID and Rick Ross.
Muni Long also appeared on the album for “Honey,” a sweet single that peaked at No. 4 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart. It also was a hit at R&B radio.
LEGEND opened at No. 10 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart, giving him his fifth consecutive top 10 debut since its 2012 launch.
About the inspiration behind the album’s title, Legend said, “Until this point, I’ve never used an aspect of my name as the title of an album. I had to earn that, to live up to it by delivering in the performance and the music. And this is me saying, I’m proud of who I am, I’m confident in the work I’ve done, and I’m just going to declare it.”
One more thing about LEGEND. It was among Rated R&B’s 30 Best R&B Albums of 2022.
Legend, the owner of a new skincare line, was part of the 65th Grammy Awards festivities. He helped close the show with a performance of “GOD DID” along with collaborators DJ Khaled, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, JAY-Z and Fridayy.
“GOD DID” was nominated for three awards, Song of the Year, Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song.
On Feb. 13 and Feb. 14, Legend will perform back-to-back nights in Los Angeles, California, to celebrate Valentine’s Day. An Evening With John Legend will take place at Walt Disney Concert Hall. Tickets are available now.
