Shelter Announce Northeast Headlining Dates

Shelter announced a four-date run of headlining dates for September on their Instagram. Yes, I can see the gears turning in your head going “I know the name Shelter, but I can’t remember from where.” Well, to remind you, Shelter is the Hare Krishna-based band from Youth of Today vocalist Ray Cappo that he started in the early ‘90s. Once they started banning Hare Krishnas from airports, I guess the religion needed a new way to spread their message, and hardcore punk seemed like the next most viable option.

Support on the tour varies by date, but it includes the likes of Spaced, Laughing Corpse, No Idols, Mil Spec, Sunstroke, and Jawdust. Shelter will be spreading the word of the Hare Krishnas from Washington DC to Buffalo, New York, which is a distance of about 380 miles. That’s hardly the most widespread attempt to spread a religion, but when you get into spreading your religion all around the world, you end up with shit like the crusades. A four-city hardcore tour out of a rented van is bound to end up with fewer casualties.

Check out the full list of headlining dates below and get ready to bang on a tambourine and go halvsies on a vegan pizza. I don’t know, that’s just what I assume goes on at a Krishnacore show. Regardless, just check out the dates below.

09/12 Washington D.C. @ Song Byrd Music House (with Laughing Corpe & No Idols)
09/13 Amityville, NY @ AMH (with Spaced)
09/14 Atlantic City, NJ @ Anchor Rock Club (with Spaced, Sunstroke, & Jawdust)
09/15 Buffalo, NY @ Rec Room (with Spaced & Mil Sec)
