Soul newcomer LOONY has released the song “raw” from her forthcoming EP soft thing. It’s the second track from the pending project, which arrives independently on June 17.
For the smooth, tender tune, LOONY turns in a sweet ethereal performance that effectively accentuates the warm acoustic guitar playing and groovy backing vocals. The sentimental lyrics are in line with the approaching Valentine’s Day, or any time that one suggests for their partner to be their most vulnerable self.
LOONY describes “raw” in a press statement as “being in the moment with someone, and being completely clear, completely present.” She goes on to say, “It’s waking up beside someone and seeing them in the light of day. And I mean really seeing them. Daylight can be harsh and unforgiving – it lets you see in high definition all the things that we usually hide whenever we get the chance.”
LOONY previously released “be cool” from soft thing. The song has garnered over 509,000 listens on Spotify since its October 2020 release.
