Lil Nas X Reveals ‘Montero’ Album Cover

The metamorphosis is complete.

Ahead of its release next month, Lil Nas X has revealed the cover art for his debut album Montero. The whimsical artwork shows the 22-year-old rapper after he emerges from his cocoon, completely naked and floating in a dreamlike world surrounded by butterflies, trees, and waterfalls.

Nas joked that the artwork was inspired by the levitating SpongeBob Squarepants meme.

The day before, Nas trolled Drake by recreating his Certified Lover Boy cover art featuring 12 pregnant male emojis instead of women.

Montero arrives Sept. 17 featuring the hit singles “Montero (Call Me By Your Name”) and “Industry Baby” with Jack Harlow.

Nas plans to share his truth on the 15-track album. “Creating this album has been therapy for me,” he said. “I’ve learned to let go of trying to control people’s perception of who I am, what I can do, and where I will be. I’ve realized the only opinion of me that really matters is my own.”
