Coco Jones and Justin Timberlake Share ‘ICU (Remix)’

Coco Jones has teamed with fellow Tennessee native Justin Timberlake for an official remix of her hit single “ICU,” produced by Camper

Timberlake comes in for verse two of the updated tune, which keeps the song’s original production. Here, he shares his perspective of two lovers drifting apart.

“Since you’ve been gone, everything been a mess / You’ve got a hold on this thing in my chest, babe / But I won’t settle for anything less but you,” Timberlake croons.

Jones’ remix with Timberlake looks to be a full-circle moment. Nearly 10 years ago, she shared a cover of Timberlake’s “Blue Ocean Floor,” from The 20/20 Experience.

This past Valentine’s Day, Jones and Leon Thomas released their rendition of Timberlake and Beyoncé’s “Until The End of Time” for Spotify Singles. (The original version appears on the deluxe edition of Timberlake’s FutureSex/LoveSounds album.)

Circling back to “ICU,” the RIAA gold-certified single spent four weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart. It also topped urban radio.

“ICU” is lifted from Jones’ debut EP, What I Didn’t Tell You, released in November 2022 via High Standardz/Def Jam Recordings. It was released as the project’s second single following “Caliber.”

Jones explained that “ICU” is about “the push and pull of being in a relationship where the circumstances have changed. Growing in our career and personal goals, but growing apart at the same time.”

In January, Jones released What I Didn’t Tell You (Deluxe)an expanded version of the project that contained four new tracks.

Jones, who won Best New Artist at the 2023 BET Awards, is set to embark on her headlining tour. On Aug. 5, she will launch the What I Didn’t Tell You Tour in Ontario, California.

She will play in major cities across U.S. and Canada, including Boston, Toronto, Chicago, Los Angeles and Philadelphia, before concluding Sep. 3 in Norfolk, Virginia. Rising singer Ebony Riley will join Jones on the road as a supporting act.

It’s been five years since Timberlake last released an album. In February 2018, he released Man of the Woods, which included features from Alicia Keys (“Morning Light”) and country singer Chris Stapleton (“Say Something”).

Over the last few years, Timberlake has collaborated with different artists such as SZA (“The Other Side“), Anderson .Paak (“Don’t Slack”), Ant Clemons (“Better Days”), Justine Skye (“Innocent“) and DJ Khaled (“Just Be”), among others.
