Review: ReWlettes “To Sir With Love”

That warm, touching sensation is revisited when listening again to the new, just released cover song and video “To Sir With Love” by the ReWlettes. The fact that the video release along with the partnership of Zest Radio will benefit “Feed The Children” makes it even more precious and touching. For each play the Zest Radio Show will donate $.10 to “Feed The Children” up to a maximum of 10,000 views. The ReWlettes and Zest Radio believes in a world where no child goes to bed hungry.

In 1967 the movie “To Sir With Love” was released. The British drama starred Sidney Poitier, a black engineer who couldn’t find work in his own field so took a job in a rough East End London school filled with delinquents. Because of his calm nature and relentless desire for his students to make it in the world, he eventually gained their respect. Recording artist Lulu made her debut in this film and so did this song “To Sir With Love.”

Front person ReW STaRR receiving Lulu’s blessing uniquely covered the song with her own explosive sound. ReW STaRR takes great care of the guitar and vocals while Anne Husick plays the bass, Tami Johnson is on drums and Maya Lo plays the keys and does some strong and sensitive harmonies. In 1967 the song was a huge hit and it will be again as it arouses those warm and fuzzy feeling you felt when you first heard it.

5/5 Stars
