Songs of Relevance – Review “Invisible Stranger” by The PondHawks

Our current world pandemic has been a popular topic to write about in song, story and newspaper articles. One such song has come from a Chicago based duo consisting of guitarist and lead vocalist Mario Novelli and synth, keyboardist and harmonic vocals Jorie Gracen, both equaling The PondHawks. The track is named “Invisible Stranger” and is not only a warning but an inspiration as well.

Although the song was originally released during the beginning days of darkness it remains relevant because of the second wave and the mutations of the original strain that now plague the nations. The songwriting team have managed to add full force to the danger of COVID 19 and capture the fear we all experienced one time or another since the inaugural event. However, it also motivates inspiration as well.

The musical team tell us a story while treating us to an upbeat musical phenomena. The duo’s sound is influenced via The Beatles and their great music. The PondHawks dazzle us with their harmonies and colorful guitar riffs. Jorie is a master of the keyboards and synth. Together their music lights up the world which would otherwise be eclipsed in darkness. They are refreshing yet tenacious about their message, and apparently I’m not the only fan as they have been nominated for a Grammy. Their music is vibrant and colorful and relevant all at the same time.

5/5 Stars
