“Do You Think That I’m A Fool?” by caroline

“Do You Think That I’m A Fool?” a new single by caroline, is fun and upbeat while also tackling a darker issue. Beneath the pop sound and pretty vocals is a story of fighting against anorexia and all the problems that come with it. caroline’s new song tells everyone around her, including herself, that she’s not listening to their negative opinions anymore. It’s sassy and vulnerable, making it super relatable. Everyone likes easy songs that they can connect with and project themselves into. Lots of teenagers, especially girls, get caught up in thinking they have to be as perfect as possible. “Do You Think That I’m A Fool?” tells anyone listening that it’s okay to unchain yourself from all those expectations and just live your life.

Compared to the power and polish of the song, the official music video seems very amateur. Some scenes are really washed out and not much happens besides caroline walking around a store and twirling in a parking lot. However, given the story behind the song, it feels like caroline is letting the world see her again, even if it’s simple. It looks like you’re watching a friend’s home project that they’re extremely excited about, which makes her that much easier to connect to. It feels authentic and genuine. She’s putting herself out there, no matter what people think of her, which is always a brave bold move.

caroline hopes “Do You Think That I’m A Fool?” and her music in general helps people feel less alone. Lots of artists want to write songs people relate to, but making it believable isn’t always easy. caroline manages to not only sound like a superstar when she sings, but also hasn’t lost her openness and relatability. When you’re isolated or feel all alone, sometimes the right song is just what you need to snap out of your funk, if even for a moment. It’s good to feel that someone somewhere has felt just as you do now, empathy and connection are so deeply powerful. “Do You Think That I’m A Fool?” could fit into so many different situations in life, giving it that much more reach. While I think the target audience would be adolescents and young adults, people from all age groups who listen to all different genres could connect with this tune. Everyone has had a moment where they realize they need to get out of their own head or let go of people’s opinions of them.

caroline wants to “put out as many songs as she can,” in the future. She has already been gaining a huge fanbase on social media, and some of her songs have ended up on curated Spotify playlists. It would seem she’s at the threshold of something, just looking for that right sound to help her blow up. I think her voice is beautiful and she has the passion in her to succeed. If she keeps headed in this direction, one of her singles could end up catapulting her into stardom. She’s definitely someone to keep an eye, and ear, on.
