“No More Waitin,’’ an exciting track off Washington-based band Vicious Kitty’s 2018 self-titled EP, has had new life breathed into it with a remix and recent re-release. While the original song is great and sounds similar, the remix is a tad more polished and powerful, giving it greater impact. The drums, bass, and guitar all execute their parts excellently, and the cool harmonized vocals added an extra element that makes the song stick out. “No More Waitin’ (Remix)” has a sneery punk attitude coupled with the technical power of hard rock/early metal, making it fun and entertaining.

Vicious Kitty contains Matt Tantrum, Jimmy St. Bitchin, and Tony Terlicker, all of whom have been in and around music for quite a while. Their wells of talent can only be gained with time and dedication, and it comes through in their sound. While one can hear the bits of influence the past has on their music, it still sounds ageless. It has an angry, flippant edge that can appeal to a vast number of crowds and ages. “No More Waitin’ (Remix)” perfectly captures that feeling when you’re totally done waiting around for someone to come to their senses and let go of their ego. The relatability of the lyrics coupled with the technical proficiency of the music creates a song that is ripe to explode out of obscurity.

“No More Waitin’ (Remix)” is the first single to drop off the new album coming in Spring 2022. Vicious Kitty plans to release a few other singles and a new music video before the album comes out. Their last video was for “Innocent Girl,” their single released in 2020. If the rest of their singles/album sounds as awesome as this re-done version of “No More Waitin,” I think it’ll gain them a ton of new fans and some serious traction. The members of Vicious Kitty have clearly put in some super hard work and dedication, taking their sound to a whole new level. “No More Waitin’ (Remix)” is the kind of song you want to hear at a concert, the entire crowd singing along and turning into a boiling mass of bodies dancing and bobbing around.

There’s a lot of rock bands out there, and there’s a lot of talented musicians, but it seems like the members of Vicious Kitty have never given up on their ambitions and they’re long overdue for a big hit. They were able to concoct a sound that was recognizable but also their own. They have a clear vision and passion and seem eager and excited to share themselves with an audience. Perhaps it’s time for them to become bigger than just a well known local band. I could see their music working well at festivals and big concert venues, it’s danceable even though it’s a little hard and heavy. If their new album matches the poise and energy of “No More Waitin’ (Remix),” I don’t think Vicious Kitty will have any trouble at all gaining a bigger fan base.
