Exclusive Interview with The Modern Gentlemen

Welcome to Melody Maker! How have you all been – what has your 2022 been like so far?

It’s been great!  Happy to be back to performing live again and doing what we love to do.

You have an amazing new album that is going to be coming out but before that you have a new single out today!  What can you tell us about it?

It’s an original song and also going to be the title of our album. It’s called “Happiest Days” and we’re very proud of it.

How did you come to gather this collection of songs together for the album?

We wanted to mainly focus on the timeless hits of the 70s and early 80s with songs we could put our harmonies on.

Many of the songs are cover songs on the album – which we love. How do you select what songs you want to cover – does everyone pick a favorite?

We all love many different artists and genres of music so we each picked 2 to 3 of our favorites to blend together.

What was the recording process like for your latest single and album? Any great stories from the studio?  How did the song come together?

We knew with this album that we wanted to come out with a TMG original song. We had a dear friend who is an amazing songwriter that wrote this specific song with us in mind and once we heard it we knew it was the one.  Along with our amazing arranger and producer, Andrew Kesler at the helm, the song jumped off the page and was easy to record.

What artist are you most into that is out on the radio now and why?

We all have our favorites as we’re quite different with our musical tastes.  We mainly listen to the legends that have been on the radio over the last 50-60 years.  Today’s artists like Bruno Mars and Michael Bublé are fantastic and we do listen to them.

What else is happening next for you?

We are getting ready to perform live shows across the country featuring these new songs in our set.  Definitely catch us in a theater near you. www.themoderngentlemen.net/shows
