Tell us about your latest release!
My latest release my album “21Dayz” official release April 22nd. It is a an singer/songwriter indie country blues album. It contains songs about love, perseverance, hope, longing, joy, sadness, relationships, justice, and life.
What was the creative process for it?
The album began during COVID although the idea for the songs began before COVID. I write every day in some form or another so I first begin by writing lyrics and then as the lyrics form, I sit at the piano and work out ideas. What is interesting is that as the song begins to form, it seems like it begins to have a life of its own and I am just the one who puts it down in song form.
Who are some of your biggest musical influences?
Some of the people who have influenced me are my grandma who encouraged me to create even when I sounded horrible. My voice teacher Tricia Leines who encouraged me to just be me and create. Some of the people musically Bonnie Raitt, Billie Holliday, Etta Jaymes, Nina Simone, Beth Hart, and Stevie Nicks.
Who would be a dream collaboration for you?
I would love to create with any of the people above as well as Sheryl Crow, Chris Daughtery, Skip Ewing, Diane Warren, Martina McBride, Melissa Etheridge
Do you have a piece of advice you carry with you that you like to pass on to other musicians?
Stay the course. People will try to discourage you, and will not be supportive but if you “Stay the Course” of your dreams and goals you remain true to yourself. It is your life and no one else’s. So you can choose to be happy with your life or have it full of regrets. The choice is up to you.
Any upcoming projects we should be on the lookout for?
I have a new video for the song “Fallen” set to be released soon. I am planning on going back into the studio early fall to create some Holiday music and begin working on a new album for 2023 and would like to begin touring in the States and possibly Europe for next year.
