Exclusive Interview with Andrea Plamondon

How would you classify your music?

I am operatically trained, but have written and performed music in various genres including progressive rock, pop rock, Celtic rock, Middle Eastern, classical and electro pop and pop rap.

Who are some of your top 5 musical influences?

The Beatles, Dead Can Dance, the Eurythmics, Pavarotti, and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan

.What do you want fans to take from your music?

I want them to be emotionally and spiritually moved.

How’s the music scene in your locale?

I am not really involved in the local scene in Arizona like I was in San Francisco, but have been working with online collaborators, and music video/film, but that could change.

When did you know you were destined for music?

I didn’t actually. I started as an art and theatre major, graduated in poetics, was involved in various bands during my operatic training, and now am focusing on combining my experience and talents in film and working with other composers.

What is the best concert you have been to?

What do you like most about playing live? Beach Boys concert in Rhode Island. The energy received from an appreciative live audience is exhilarating and freeing. I don’t believe there is anything on a par with an ‘honest’ live performance.

Is there a song on your latest CD release here that stands out as your personal favorite, and why?

Since the album is multi-genre it’s a bit difficult, but I guess the title song, ‘Only Eden’ and ‘Dreams’ are my favorites. I love the flowing melody of ‘Only Eden’ which is a classical crossover song, and the originality and genre bending involved in’Dreams’.

How have you evolved as an artist over the last year?

This last year, I finally finished my multi-genre, compilation album, ’Songs for ‘Forever’ which was truly a labor of love, and involves my work with several artists, and also some classical cover songs. I also completed my first music film, which has been receiving awards from various Film festivals.

If you could meet, play a gig, co-write a song, have dinner, have a drink with any band or artist (dead or alive) who would it be and why?

I’ve been thinking about that since I was last asked the question, but there are so many deserving artists, that I just cannot decide…

What’s next for you?

I would like to create more music film, and perhaps
