Saving Lives through the Power of Music: LGBTQ Artist Leslie Hudson Embraces Vulnerability in New Album

Inspired by 90s Rock and Pop ‘Reset to Factory Specs’ is an honest reflection on the costs and rewards of life, survival, strength, and acceptance

Stratford, ON, Canada — August 5th — Longtime singer-songwriter Leslie Hudson is no stranger to life’s many challenges. As an individual who has come out multiple times in multiple ways (as autistic, queer, non-binary, and pagan), Hudson believes that music has renewed their life’s purpose in diverse ways.

Displaying their unique ability to channel joy, grief, trauma, rage, loneliness, and every other emotion into their craft is what sets Leslie Hudson apart from other contemporaries. With their raw, personally inspired new album, ‘Reset to Factory Specs’, the eclectic artist opens up about their hard-fought path back to joy.

From empowering audiences to embrace self-forgiveness and healing, to underscoring the value of inclusion, the talented artist hopes that their album facilitates vital conversations about mental health and validates the feelings of all kinds of survivors.

“Reset to Factory Specs” releases on Friday, August 5th, 2022 with vocals and piano by producer-songwriter Leslie Hudson, alongside arrangements and performances by co-producer and multi-instrumentalist John Argentiero. Betsy Tinney returns as guest cellist, with mastering by Mat Leffler-Schulman at Mobtown Studios in Baltimore.

With 2 singles, “Mermaid (radio edit)”, which released Jun 3 and “Barricades” which released July 1, the new album features an expressive, inspiring, and heartfelt songwriting, alongside the artist’s powerful vocals. ‘Reset to Factory Specs’ also showcases the openness, vulnerability, and strength that Leslie Hudson imbibes within their music.

‘Reset to Factory Specs’ was crowdfunded by a successful Kickstarter (from May 10 to June 2), raising just over $9K CAD. The new album marks yet another collaboration between Hudson and Argentiero, who first met through an online songwriting challenge 12 years ago. The duo previously collaborated on Hudson’s EP “Pianoless” as well as Argentiero’s EP “Hurtful Nothings”.

“I think, looking back, I was trying to understand what it meant to be a woman. I was AFAB (assigned female at birth) and raised to believe in a binary, Baptist, black and white worldview. At 20 I left Christianity behind. At 34 I was diagnosed as autistic. Now at 45 I’ve made an album about being non-binary,” comments Leslie Hudson on their milestone life experiences.
