Exclusive Interview with Copperhead Jones

A unique, smooth sounding Texas country singer-songwriter, Copperhead Jones first started writing songs in 2012 while deployed with the United States Navy.

Living in various places throughout his adult life has given him the ability to write songs that cover not only the true feel of the country way of life but also the shine of the city lights atmosphere.  Well rounded, deep thinking and heartfelt lyrics, along with his own unique sound, not only crafted the foundation for the album but also bridges the gap between any state line boundaries of music.

What kind of musician would you classify yourself as?

I would classify myself as a country rock musician with blues and outlaw country influences.

Tell us something about your latest single that no one knows about?

My latest single is “Anchor” and this song was co written with my friend C.W. Duncan over the phone while he was in Texas and I was in Florida.

Your fans are ready to support you full force! What do you admire most about them?

I admire their willingness to travel miles to come see me perform live and come up to me after the show and tell me about their story.

Do you create for yourself or for your fans?

I definitely create for myself. It is my firm belief that people value authenticity more than anything in music. If I write for myself I can create that authentic sound in my music and the fans will come to follow that. If you write for you then you will in turn be writing for your fans at the same time which is what I strive for.

Has your style evolved since the beginning of your career?

I am still super early on in my career so the answer would be no but I imagine in 5 years my sound will evolve for the better.

When was that first moment when you realized that music was going to pay off for you?

Financially speaking I am still waiting for that moment and I might never get that moment which is ok to me. That said, while I never got that moment financially I do get that moment at almost every show for a payoff of doing what I love. Music fills my soul and that is a much better payoff than money could ever buy. Being able to afford a several hundred acre ranch would be nice too though haha.

Releasing this single must mean the world to you! What has been the biggest reward from this project?

The biggest reward from this project is to be able to put myself out there and have people tell me that they connect and relate to my story. SOme have even told me they have found peace in the song “Anchor” knowing they aren’t alone in their struggles with depression.

What is your biggest lesson learned from the project?

My biggest lesson learned from this project is to have an objective view of the songs I wrote and to try and judge them based on how the audience would perceive the song. Making a song too specific can make it hard for people to connect so even if it is my personal favorite song it doesn’t mean it will bode well on an album.

Creating your vision come true, please share what it really took to make this happen. We’re so invested in what you’re doing!

For this vision to come true it took years of writing music, learning music structure, and a ton of money earned from gigs played while holding down a day job.
