The Fat Nasty is on the Radio with NYGMA

Summoning the spirit of 2000’s hardcore, Dallas, Texas band Nygma has established a reputation for surrealistic lyrics, unorthodox guitar melodies, unpredictable shifts in tempo and rhythm, and wild stage presence.

Burnie, Colten, and Caleb have been playing music together for close to 16 years, they’ve been in other bands together as well as touring the US multiple times. The three of them met through local church functions in Mansfield, Ohio. Burnie met Daniel and Chris through the local scene in Denton, Texas. The five have been playing together for close to years now. NYGMA started as an outlet that wasn’t faith-based even though you hear them touch on their faith, backgrounds, and beliefs in lyrics. They grew up in Church/shul, their parents are pastors, etc. With NYGMA, they wanted to explore other avenues and that’s where they are now.

What is the vibe of The Fat Nasty right now?

The vibe is fat and nasty of course! We are just happy people enjoy the song.

The radio plays have been INSANE! We are excited for you! Tell us what has been the most exciting part about hearing yourself on the radio?

Hearing yourself on the radio is something most musicians dream about. You see it in movies, and you think it will never happen to you, when it does, it’s a bit surreal. It makes all the hard work, blood, sweat, and tears all worth it.

What has the vibe of your fans been like when listening to the single?

As far as we can tell, it’s a new fan favorite! And the vibe when we play it live, is off the charts.

Could you give a hint of what is going on for you next?

We can give more than a hint. We are certainly releasing more singles, more videos, and doing as many shows as possible. Nygma is about to be everywhere!

What is the most memorable reaction to hearing your voice on the radio?

It was just pure amazement. How does this happen to a bunch of knuckleheads from Dallas?

Music is your calling! How are you doing with all the love you’re receiving?

We have all done music our whole lives. In prior bands we were always within arms reach of “making it”, but never worked out for one reason or another. To be making some real waves in music feels so good for us, especially us that are well into our thirties.
