Exclusive Interview with Teyquil

Welcome to Teyquil. We couldn’t stop tapping our feet when listening to your new hit, “Flashy.” What was your source of inspiration behind this fierce single?
Awww, thanks so much for the kind words! My source of inspiration is quite simple, I love 80’s pop and new wave and I feel that era was a supreme marking of all things perfectly set and assembled when it came to putting out smash hits at that time. “Flashy” was created in homage to that era and I’m hoping people embrace its efforts moving forward.

Did you have any artistic or musical influences in mind when crafting your hard-hitting and dynamic instrumentals for “Flashy”? What or who helped you bring this killer sound to life?
Wow, yeah! I have loads of musical influences when it came to “Flashy” and a few of them that pops in my head are bands like, Eurythmics, A Flock of Seagulls, Depeche Mode, Corey Hart, Devo, The Cure, Peter Schilling, Joy Division to name a few. As far as production, it was just me as I curated all the sounds, produced the elements, wrote the song and recorded it and it was the best time that I’ve had  in a long time. Hahahaha.

Why did you choose to release “Flashy” as a single? How does this song prepare listeners for what’s to come?
I chose “Flashy” as a single because of the promise the song produces and that was to make people move/feel something in the music. I have no doubt that Flashy has something to give and I believe it will deliver to some degree, someday. The constant bounce from the bass, synthesizers, guitars and keyboard are all elements incorporated in this track which adds value to the process and opens doors for further creations to come musically. So, in my ending statement to this question, you can find more discoveries in my music making surrounding this kind of sound and I think the audience listening would gratefully appreciate the work that is put forth in future singles.
Do you have any other projects you are currently working on?
O.M.G! yes, my newest single “Satisfied” drops 7/13 so be on the lookout for that. I’m super excited for you all to hear this new music and hope you love it just as much as I loved producing it.
Where can listeners find your social and hear your music?
