Vince Staples “Shame On The Devil”

Vince Staples has just announced his next album, Dark Times. Ahead of its release on Friday (May 24), he releases its first single, “Shame On The Devil”.

Produced by SAINT MINO, Tyler Page, Joe Harrison, Michael Uzowuru, the Long Beach rapper looks towards the Lord for guidance during a stage of depression and loneliness.

“Shamе on the Devil / I’m touched by an angel / The Lord made me special / I’ve prayed for days like this,” he raps. He later continues, “Voices still in my head, voices still in my head / Beef with my closest of friends and made no amends / I’d rather kill him instead / Out of all of the rumors to spread.”

Dark Times is Vince Staples sixth studio album and the follow-up to 2022’s Ramona Park Broke My Heart. Since then, he’s released his five-episode Netflix series The Vince Staples Show. Dark Times will feature 13 tracks and it will be his very last project on Def Jam.

“Eleven years ago, a young, uncertain version of myself was given an opportunity with Def Jam Recordings,” says Vince. “I released my first project under their banner, Shyne Coldchain Vol 2, a year later. I was unsure of what to expect from the world of music but deeply aware of what I needed: a change in my surroundings and a clear understanding of self. Ten years and seven projects later, I’ve found that clarity. Now, I share with you my final Def Jam release, Dark Times. 5.24.24.”
