Hacker Group Claims to Have Stolen Data From 560 Million Ticketmaster Accounts

A hacker group claims to have stolen the personal data of 560 million Ticketmaster customers and is now offering to sell the information for $500,000.

According to Hackread (via Billboard), the well-known hacking group ShinyHunters says it has stolen 1.3 terabytes of data from Ticketmaster, including usernames, contact information, order information, and partial payment details such as the last four digits of a customer’s credit card and expiration dates.

Live Nation, which owns Ticketmaster, has yet to acknowledge whether a data breach has in fact taken place. However, officials with Australia’s Department of Home Affairs told the Australian Broadcasting Company that it was aware of a cyber incident that could potentially impact millions of Ticketmaster customers globally.

A spokesperson for the Department of Home Affairs told the Australian Broadcasting Department that it is “working with Ticketmaster to understand the incident.”

The reported breach comes just dates after the United Justice Department filed a sprawling antitrust lawsuit against Live Nation, alleging that the company has taken abusive steps to squash competition in the live event ticketing space in the US.
