YouTube Age Restricted Squid Pisser’s Weird as F*ck “Smog of Self Abuse” Video

YouTube’s community guidelines on what’s acceptable or not can sometimes be archaic and confusing, but in the case of Squid Pisser and their video for “Smog of Self Abuse,” I think I kinda get why it was age restricted. At just under two minutes of non-stop insanity that features choreographed public antics, weird teeth stuff, and a very unsettling latter half involving a guy wearing fake tits that’s gyrating suggestively, I can see why YouTube would have said “yeah, this probably isn’t for kids…”

The song itself is actually from the band’s Vaporize a Neighbor EP that they released back in March. The band’s founder Tommy Meehan said the track is actually a take on body dysmorphia (which now makes sense having watched the video), among other concepts.

“The song is a warning against cultivating hate, growing bitter and wallowing in the self pity and negativity that sour so many people in this world. It’s about becoming lost in a haze of perpetual confusion and self abuse to the point of epic violence. Suburban teens shooting up schools. Domestic bombing attacks on civilians. The song focuses on the death of innocence and the ingredients that fester in order to give birth to a sinister mind.

“The video is about embracing those parts of yourself that society deems unworthy. Beauty can be whatever the fuck you want it to be. Go to the mall. Eat hot dogs. Live inside of a dumpster. If you feel it, you’re glamourous. You’re oozing with your own sex appeal. Don’t let society tell you you’re not good enough. Embrace your own thing, dive in and be you. You own yourself and nobody else does…”

Squid Pisser have a new album coming out next Friday, titled Dreams Of Puke. You can preorder yourself a copy right now.

In addition to his work with Squid Pisser, Meehan has joined GWAR as the human slave for new guitarist Grodius Maximus, which should be pretty convenient since both bands are currently on tour. You can find the full list of dates below.
