Jonas Brothers’ Kevin reveals skin cancer diagnosis, undergoes surgery

Kevin Jonas, the eldest of the Jonas Brothers, has revealed a skin cancer diagnosis, for which he has undergone surgery.

Jonas took to social media on Tuesday (June 11) to share that he had recently been diagnosed with a basal cell carcinoma – a small bump or mole that harbours cancer cells, and most occur around areas that are the most exposed to the sun’s UV rays.

The Jonas Brother said at the start of the video, showing fans the cancer spot: “Yes, that is an actual little skin cancer guy that has started to grow. And now I have to get surgery to remove it, so here we go.”

The video then transitions to post-surgery Kevin with a bandage over his temple, as he tells viewers “Alright, I’m all done. Now it’s time to heal. Heading home. Make sure to get those moles checked people.”

Kevin Jonas’ surgery comes as the Jonas Brother enjoy some downtime in between their ongoing ‘Five Albums, One Night’ tour. The tour will resume in August for a string of shows in Mexico, after which the trio – including Joe Jonas and Nick Jonas – will kickoff their European leg of the tour.

The European leg of the tour is due to take place between September 9 and October 16, and will include shows in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, Amsterdam, Dublin, Belfast, Paris and more. The tour was originally set for May, but was postponed with the band citing “unforeseen scheduling conflicts”. Tickets to the group’s European tour are on sale now.
