Don’t call it a comeback. After more than 11 years, LL Cool J makes his epic return with his new single, “Saturday Night Special”, featuring Rick Ross and Fat Joe, and produced by Q-Tip.
Directed by JakeTheShoot, the colorless-clip finds the trio on an all-white set with a Maybach while dropping lyrical gems on hustling and the rules of the game.
Uncle L sets the tone with his promising verse. “So many different hustlers you meet in the game / Shit is cold, don’t put your trust in ’em, let me explain, raps the GOAT. “The greedy killer, he wanna fuck hoes and get the money / But he quick to feel disrespected / One slip of the tongue, wrong words selected.”
Rozay checks in rapping, “Livin’ like a villain, sipping V on out the glass / Million on the wrist, quick to skip a battle rap / Corvette club, waving Maybach flags / Hunnid for yachts, jumping waves, running laps,” before Joey Crack follows with a double entendre. “I brought the purses to the Verzuz / Been bodying shit, big boy hearses / Stain careers like windows in the churches / Brought the yay to the trap, this Sunday Service.”
“Saturday Night Special” is the first single off LL Cool J’s long-awaited 14th studio album produced by Q-Tip. It will mark LL Cool J’s first official music since his 2013 Authentic album. Since then, the legendary rapper, actor, and NCIS star as inducted in the 2021 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. Last year, embarked on the Rock The Bells and Live Nation F.O.R.C.E. Live Tour and performed during Hip Hop’s 50th anniversary tribute at the 2023 Grammys.
