Kehlani Releases New Album ‘Crash’: Stream

Kehlani has released their fourth album, Crash, via Atlantic Records.

The 13-track album includes the singles “After Hours” and “Next 2 U.” For features, Kehlani keeps it at a minimum with three: Jill Scott, Young Miko, and Omah Lay. Scott and Miko appear on the Camper-produced “Sucia.”

For production, Kehlani also worked with Dixson, Oak, Alex Goldblatt, Khris Riddick, Jack Rochon, Aidan, GuiltyBeatz, and more. Their songwriting collaborators include Ant Clemons, Destin Conrad, Phabo, Reggie Becton, and others.

“A crash, in any form, is the peak height of the moment,” Kehlani notes about their album. “It isn’t the anxiety of the before, or the lament after. It is the ever so imperative present. A space with no reminisce, no remorse, and no afterthought. CRASH IS HERE. At my most free, most fun, most loud, most fueled, so far.”

On Crash, Kehlani meanders through various styles of music, exploring hip-hop (“What I Want”), Afrobeats (“Tears” featuring Omah Lay), country (“Lose My Wife”), rock (“Crash”), and dancehall (“After Hours”). The sonics on Crash are grittier and sharper than those on the preceding album, blue water road

The latter album, released in 2022, captured Kehlani in a more reflective state following the aftermath of 2020’s It Was Good Until It Wasn’tOn Crash, Kehlani appears to be healed and less interested in dwelling on past pain. Instead, it’s all about embracing the present moment and trying out new things.
