BET Awards 2024 Recap

BET celebrated the year in music and more during their 24th annual BET Awards.

Hosted by actress Taraji P. Henson and held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, CA on Sunday (June 30), Megan Thee Stallion kicked off the ceremony with a medley including “Boa,” “Where Them Girls At”, and the hit “Hiss”.

Her fellow ladies also blessed the stage throughout the evening including GloRilla, who brought Megan back out, as well as Latto, Sexxy Red, and Ice Spice.

Other performers during the evening included Victoria Monet, Will Smith, Tyla, and more including a rare appearance by Lauryn Hill, who joined her son YG Marley for a medley.

Usher received this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award and was honored with an epic tribute and performance from the R&B legend’s fellow peers from Childish Gambino, Keke Palmer, Chloe and Tinashe to Summer Walker, Coco Jones, Marsha Ambrosius, Victoria Monét, Teyana Taylor, and Latto.

Kendrick Lamar won Best Male Hip-Hop Artist, Nicki Minaj was crowned Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, while Killer Mike took home Best Album with Michael.

Usher won Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, while SZA was given the Best Female R&B/Pop Artist. Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign was named Best Group, Lil Durk and J.Cole earned Best Collaboration with “All My Life”, and Tyla walked away with Best New Artist. Victoria Monet’s “On My Mama” won Best Music Video, Beyonce’s “Texas Hold ‘Em” was voted and given the Viewers Choice Award. The full list of winners can be found here.
