Kehlani’s ‘Crash’ Debuts in Top 5 on Billboard’s R&B Albums Chart

Kehlani’s new album, Crash, is off to a strong start on Billboard.

Their fourth LP opens at No. 2 on the Top R&B Albums chart, dominated by SZA’s SOS for a 77th week.

With Crash, Kehlani continues their record of having all their albums debut in the top 5 of the R&B Albums chart. In fact, all their projects, including mixtapes, have landed in the top 3.

Here is a breakdown of Kehlani’s top 5 hits on Billboard’s R&B Albums chart, in order by peak:

Elsewhere on Billboard, Crash debuts at No. 9 on Top Hip-Hop/R&B Albums, No. 11 on Top Album Sales and No. 25 on the Billboard 200.

According to HitsDailyDouble, Crash sold 19,668 equivalent units in the first week, 7,220 of which were pure copies.

“After Hours,” the album’s lead single, re-enters the R&B Digital Song Sales chart at No. 10 this week. The party-ready song has peaked at No. 8 so far.

On the Hot 100, “After Hours” rises from No. 81 to No. 72 in its fifth week on the chart. On the R&B Streaming Songs chart, “After Hours” debuts at No. 11. It’s the only new entry on the chart this week.

Crash was released June 21 via Atlantic Records. The 13-track album features production by DIXSON, Jack Rochon, Camper, Ant Clemons, Oak, Mamii, Khris Riddick-Tynes, Alex Goldblatt, and more.

Regarding their new album, Kehlani explained, “A crash, in any form, is the peak height of the moment. It isn’t the anxiety of the before, or the lament after. It is the ever-so-imperative present. A space with no reminisce, no remorse, and no afterthought.”

They concluded, “CRASH IS HERE. At my most free, most fun, most loud, most fueled, so far.”

Crash is the follow-up to the Oakland native’s 2022 album, Blue Water Road
