Producer Stanley Brown has enlisted R&B sensation Eric Bellinger for his new single “Meant for Me.”
On the inspirational track, which fuses new jack swing and gospel, Bellinger sings: “If that blessing wasn’t sent to me / Lock the door and throw away the key / I only want what’s meant for me / I know that’s God’s protection on me.”
Regarding “Meant for Me,” Brown explains, “The song is about being okay with doors that are not meant for you because every opportunity is not a God-given opportunity, so you have to be OK with closed doors.”
He continues, “Sometimes we think rejection is a bad thing when rejection can actually be God’s protection and we just have to know that everything will work out when it’s assigned to your purpose.”
As for collaborating with Bellinger, Brown tells Rated R&B, “Working with Eric Bellinger is the equivalent to working with an architect of modern-day music. Eric understands the importance of telling the story through melody and lyrics.”
“Meant For Me,” which also features Christopher Williams and Jason Nelson, is the follow-up to Brown’s 2023 single “God Is Good.” The latter song features gospel heavyweights Karen Clark Sheard, Hezekiah Walker, and Kierra Sheard.
In March, Bellinger released his double album The Rebirth 3: The Party & The Bedroom. The album features Ne-Yo, Ty Dolla $ign, Sevyn Streeter, Queen Naija, Tone Stith, and more.
