In a major turn of events, Robert Downey Jr. is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe – this time to play Dr. Doom.
Downey Jr. will star as Dr. Doom in the next Avengers film — now officially titled Avengers: Doomday — which is set for release in May 2026.
Another Avengers film — Avengers: Secret Wars — will follow in May 2027.
Both Avengers films will be directed by the Russo Brothers.
