Green Day Kick Off North American “Saviors Tour” in Washington, D.C.: Photos, Video, Setlist

Green Day launched their North American “Saviors Tour” at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C., on Monday night (July 29th), with 41,000 fans in attendance. The stacked tour bill features support from The Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid, and The Linda Lindas.

The outing finds Green Day celebrating the 30th and 20th anniversaries of their classic albums Dookie and American Idiot, respectively. The punk veterans are playing both albums in full, plus other favorites and selections from their latest LP, Saviors. All in all, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong and company performed a 37-song set.

The show kicked off with the Saviors single “The American Dream Is Killing Me,” and was followed by a front-to-back performance of Dookie. More Saviors songs and other hits made up the middle portion, with a full performance of American Idiot next. The concert wrapped up with the new song “Bobby Sox” and the set-closing “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life).”

The Smashing Pumpkins provided direct support with an 11-song set that included favorites like “Tonight, Tonight,” “Bullet with Butterfly Wings,” “1979,” and “Cherub Rock.” Unfortunately, Rancid’s set was cut short due to heavy rain, with the punk band only getting to play two songs. However, the weather cooperated for opening act The Linda Lindas, who performed a full seven-song set.
