Vybz Kartel has been released from prison, BBC Newsbeat notes. The Jamaican dancehall star had been serving a life sentence after being convicted for the 2011 murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams, but, in March, the conviction was overturned after a court ruled that there was juror misconduct in the original trial. Kartel was freed from custody this week after appellate judges in Jamaica ruled against a retrial.
