Frustrations Simmer Within Death Angel as Drummer Seeks Other Options

Earlier this week, it was announced that Death Angel was dropping off of the W.A.S.P. tour due to “unforeseen circumstances” and at the time, it was easy to think nothing of it. But after some comments made by drummer Will Carroll, there may be more to the band’s situation than they originally let on.

In a post over on his personal Facebook page (as captured by Blabbermouth), Carroll made a public appeal to anyone looking for his particular set of skills, stating that he and Death Angel guitarist Rob Cavestany were planning on working on new music. And while that would be largely innocuous, there are bits and pieces between the lines that kinda stand out.

“Well, this has been a week of shitty news and (and it’s only Wednesday).

“Now that the tour’s been cancelled I have a bunch of time freed up for the remainder of the year. Instead of falling deeper into depression (which really doesn’t suit me) I plan on staying busy with the drumming. [Death Angel guitarist] Rob Cavestany and I are continuing work on the new music. NOBODY can put the kibosh on that. But in addition to that I’d like to put the word out that I’m interested in working on other projects. I love recording and I’m pretty efficient at it. Gigs and touring are possibilities as well. So if you’re interested in working together hit me up on DM or if you have my number then contact me directly.”

All that seemed pretty on the level, but then he added this:

“Please don’t ask me why we’re not on the WASP tour in the comments below. I think it’s pretty fucking obvious…”

Obvious? Why, is it because Death Angel frontman Mark Osegueda’s busy fronting Kerry King‘s solo band? Or that he had to keep quiet about his involvement with the project until it was announced, leaving his bandmates in the dark along with everyone else? Surely it’s not that.

Then when former Exodus guitarist Rick Hunolt commented offering his support during what’s likely a difficult time for Carroll and the rest of Death Angel, the drummer let loose this spicy meatball:

“It really does. The word BETRAYAL comes to mind. I notice people are slagging WASP here. As much as I’d like to I made a promise I would not go into details about why we are no longer doing the WASP tour… on social media. But to be clear it has absolutely nothing to do with WASP.”

Yikes. Sounds like there’s trouble in paradise. As things stand, Death Angel are still an active band despite Osegueda’s involvement in Kerry King’s solo act. Here’s hoping the boys can keep it together in the meantime.
