Jordin Sparks Samples Michael Jackson on New Song ‘Remember’

Jordin Sparks has returned with her new single “Remember.”

On the track, which samples Michael Jackson‘s “Remember The Time,” Sparks reminisces about the good times in a relationship, feeling their connection has been weakening.

“Do you remember / How you used to know what I’m thinking / Late night drives in the backseat / Got my heart racing / Miss how it was / When we fell in love / Can you remember the time? / I still, remember the time,” Sparks sings.

“I’ve always been mesmerized by Michael Jackson’s music,” Sparks says of her new song. “To blend his legendary sound with my own is a dream come true. This track has an irresistible groove – those 808s will make you feel it deep in your bones and get you moving from the first beat! Thank you, Michael, for the incredible music.”

“Remember” is the follow-up to Sparks’ 2023 ballad “Call My Name.” Regarding the tune, Sparks described it as “an ode to a love so full, so effortless and pure—there’s a peace and contentment within it.” She added, “You’ve all witnessed my rocky road in love and now you can heart the culmination of what I’ve learned and now know in my bones.”

“Remember” and “Call My Name” will appear on Sparks’ new album, No Restrictions, which releases Sept. 13 via Legacy Music Groups.

No Restrictions marks Sparks’ first album in nearly a decade. The Grammy-nominated singer’s last album, Right Here Right Now, was released Aug. 21, 2015, via Louder Than Life/Sony Music.

Executive produced by Salaam Remi, Right Here Right Now included features from 2 Chainz, Shaggy, Elijah Blake, B.o.B., and J-Doe.
