SJ The Artist Gives Tribute to Hip Hop in “A.I.M”

SJ The Artist, aka SJ Hazim, released a special version of his powerful single A.I.M, which was part of his original full-length project under the same name. According to SJ’s camp, this particular salute to Hip Hop was separated from the original album release as part of an impending storyline and deluxe edition of the album, which by all accounts is groundbreaking. Hailing from the capital city of Kansas, Topeka, though born in Wyandotte County, SJ can be seen moving through the state, driving community issues and championing mental health awareness initiatives. He’s even been named “Hip Hop translator” for one of the foremost minds in mental health, Dr. Walt Menninger, of the world-famous Menniger Foundation. Dr. Menninger discusses how SJ drew him into the world of Hip Hop in his latest tome, “Like What You Do: The Memoirs of Dr. Walt Menninger with Todd Fertig.

As an ode to the music and culture of Hip Hop, A.I.M, under LJS Music Group, LLC, and distributed under the Universal Music Group/Bungalo umbrella, stands out as one of the most considered offerings of 2024 and closes out the genre’s 51st year in stellar fashion.

Referring back to earlier thoughts from The Hype Magazine on this project, Sonically, “AIM” is a rich tapestry woven with the rhythmic threads of boom-bap Hip Hop. The production, including select appearances by West Coast legends South Central Cartel on the boards, creates a powerful platform from which SJ and his collaborators launch lyrical missiles. These tracks pierce even the most fortified hearts, commanding respect from both the streets and the mental health community.
