Review: John Fusco and the X-Road Riders “John the Revelator”

Review: John Fusco and the X-Road Riders “John the Revelator”

One of the coolest ice-blue southern rock album comes from Vermont blues artist John Fusco. The 20-track album is infused with vivacious stories, genre bending music, and the orgasmic voice of Fusco. The evocative voice of Risse Norman adds an expressive and heart pounding flurry of emotive majesty to Fusco’s Divine prophecies.

All of the songs are sung from the heart and add a colorful devotion to the music itself. No wonder…the talented singer/songwriter is also a celebrated screenwriter. His credits include: Marco Polo, a popular Netflix original series, Young Guns, Crossroads, Hildalgo, and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny. However, Fusco’s Destiny also includes his artistry for creating music.

Gospel inspiration aside, rocky blues and dynamic soul spark the songs on this unique record. It screams “listen to me” as soon as you hear the first track, a ghostly melody reminding one of an old western ghost town with echoes of the past crying out. The album circles in between many facets of music from Americana to Rock n’ Roll and back again, but the unusual and decadent voice of John Fusco prevails throughout. The record provides a solid vibe of long-lasting entertainment. This album is a keeper!
