Ahead of the December release of YUNGBLUD’s sophomore album weird!, MGK, YUNGBLUD and Travis Barker unleashed their new collab “acting like that.” Then, last week, the trio debuted a zombie-filled music video for the new song. Shortly after its release, “acting like that” started getting compared to Metro Station’s 2007 hit “Shake It.”
Earlier this week, TikTok user @drettysnapped even shared a video comparing the two songs. As it turns out, both tracks have a very similar beat pattern in the chorus, causing them to sound a lot alike.

Now, Metro Station have responded to the comparison being made. After Alternative Press shared the first article on this story on Monday, Metro Station sent through a tweet. According to them, they are honored “Shake It” continues to influence music being made today. Over the years, Taylor Swift‘s hit “Shake It Off” has been compared to “Shake It” because of its similar name and lyrics.
“Taylor Swift with ‘Shake It Off’ and now this?! Honored that we have influenced so many.”
It’s unknown if Machine Gun Kelly, YUNGBLUD and/or Travis Barker know about the comparison. For now, both the “acting like that” and “Shake It” videos are available to stream below.
