The Weeknd Announces ‘The Highlights’ Album

Ahead of his Super Bowl performance next month, The Weeknd has announced a special project.

The Highlights arrives Feb. 5 and was curated specifically for his upcoming Pepsi Super Bowl LV Halftime Show appearance. While not a greatest hits collection, the 18-track set features some of his most notable hits spanning his decade-long career. The album kicks off with a trio of hits off 2020’s After Hours, including “Save Your Tears,” “In Your Eyes,” and the chart-topping “Blinding Lights.”

The XO crooner takes it back to the Starboy era with the Daft Punk-assisted “I Feel It Coming,” while including selections from 2015’s Beauty Behind the Madness and his 2018 EP My Dear Melancholy, plus his collaborations with Ariana Grande (“Love Me Harder”) and Kendrick Lamar (“Pray for Me”). The project caps off with “Wicked Games” and “The Morning” off his 2011 debut mixtape House of Balloons.

“Given the vast mainstream audience of the Super Bowl, The Highlights album is a way to present some of The Weeknd’s most notable works in one place,” reads a press release from The Weeknd’s label, Republic Records. “While this isn’t a ‘Greatest Hits’ album it does provide a new listener a rich foray into some of the iconic artist’s best and favorite work.”

The Weeknd will headline the 2021 Pepsi Super Bowl LV Halftime Show at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla., on Feb. 7.
