This week, Andy Glass confirmed that We Came As Romans are finishing up recording their new album. The upcoming LP marks the first full-length release from the band since the sudden passing of vocalist Kyle Pavone.
In an intimate statement, Glass opens up about the experience We Came As Romans had while in the recording studio. As well, he reveals how the band plan to honor Pavone with this next album.

Back in 2018, vocalist Kyle Pavone tragically passed away following an accidental overdose. Since then, his We Came As Romans bandmates have taken time to grieve, honor him and pour their emotions into new music. Back in 2019, they returned with “Carry The Weight” and “From The First Note.”
Although “From The First Note” was released after Pavone’s death, fans are still able to hear his voice on the track. We Came As Roman pulled Pavone’s vocal track from “To Plant A Seed” especially for the song, further helping to pay tribute to the late musician.
In 2019, We Came As Romans also revealed they plan to incorporate Pavone’s unreleased work into their next album. At the time, Dave Stephens told Billboard that they want to include Pavone in their new music in any way they can.

“He was always writing, and I’m pretty sure he gave Lou [Cotton], our guitarist, a few different things he wrote,” he said. “We’re gonna try and get into his laptop, too, ‘cause I’m sure he had just files and files and files of stuff there, too. So that’s a goal. We would love to include him in this record as much as we can, aside from just writing about him.”
Then, last month, We Came As Romans confirmed they had started recording their next album. The new LP marks the band’s first full-length release since Pavone’s death and 2017’s Cold Like War.
Earlier this week, Andy Glass took to Instagram to reveal that he has finished recording his parts for We Came As Romans’ next album

“A few days ago I got home from LA, where we had just finished recording our new record,” he says. “It was, hands down, the most amazing studio experience I have ever had.”
Glass goes on to say that the band and producer diligently worked to make this upcoming LP one Pavone would’ve been proud of.
“Me, the band and the producer came together and put every ounce of energy into making something truly beautiful for Kyle. I’m beyond proud of what we created. When I got home I sat on my couch and just cried for what felt like hours. I just couldn’t believe we had finally finished it. For so long I’ve been carrying around these emotions, thoughts, ideas and expectations on what this record should be. At some points, that was the only thing I thought about. I just wanted to make sure I was giving all of myself into this no matter what the cost.”

For We Came As Romans, 2020 didn’t exactly go as planned. Due to the COVID-19 crisis, they were forced to postpone their To Plant A Seed anniversary tour. Then, last month, the tour was pushed again. For now, We Came As Romans are holding off on announcing new dates. However, they promise that “something special” is on the way for fans.
“While we work on this record to bring you new music this summer, we’re working on something special to make up for our tour postponement. So stay tuned, because we’ll have more great news to announce soon.”
Bad news: the TPAS 10 year tour is being moved again. We are not announcing new dates until we are confident that they will happen- if you’d like, you can get a refund at your point of purchase.
