Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are dividing up their property as they go their separate ways.
In the wake of their divorce, TMZ reports that Kim will keep the Hidden Hills, Calif. estate where they raised their four kids—North, 7; Saint, 5; Chicago, 3; and Psalm, 1.
The former couple paid $20 million for the 15,000-square-foot house in 2014. They spent an additional $20 million renovating the minimalist mansion with the help of Belgian designer Alex Vervoordt. The home was featured on the March 2020 cover of Architectural Digest, who called it “one of the most fascinating, otherworldly, and, yes, strange pieces of domestic architecture on the planet.”
“Kanye would come up with the most far-out ideas, and I’d say, ‘This is not normal. We need drawers!’ I was the voice of functionality,” Kim said of the design process.
The “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” star reportedly loves the house and does not want to move. Most of Kim’s family including her mother Kris and sister Kylie live within the same Hidden Hills community, so the decision was made in the interest of keeping their kids in a stable environment. “The plan is keeping their four kids in the only home they’ve ever known,” says TMZ.
It’s unclear where Kanye will take up his permanent residence, but he has been spending most of his time in Wyoming where he purchased a 9,000-acre ranch in 2019.
Last month, Kim filed for divorce from her husband after six years of marriage. The divorce is said to be amicable, with Kim asking for joint legal and physical custody of their children.
