Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Ant Clemons has released a new track and video titled “Story of My Life.”
In the video, directed by JAMES, Clemons pursues his dreams of becoming a singer. However, it causes some turmoil between him and his love interest (played by Tanrelle), as they find themselves struggling financially.
The video captures the couple in an argument about Clemons wanting to follow his passion for music. Throughout the rest of the video, we see the couple still going through the motions while Clemons makes strides in the music industry. By the end, all is well and the two are seen embracing each other.
The mid-tempo, guitar-infused track was produced by Blake Slatkin, Nick Mira, and 1500orNothin’.
Rated R&B recently caught up with Clemons to reflect his journey from being an aspiring artist to receiving a Grammy nomination for his album, Happy 2 Be Here.
“I was working at Red Lobster four years ago. So, to think that the thing I was doing on my off time is even in the same category as Luke James, who I got my first placement, or with Givēon, who I’m a huge fan of, I’m very happy and grateful,” Clemons said.
“Story of My Life” is the follow-up to Clemons’ Justin Timberlake-assisted “Better Days,” which dropped at the end of 2020. In January, he released a live version of the track with a guest appearance from Kirk Franklin.
